Pai skin consultants

Meet our sensitive skin experts

If you know Pai, you’ll know that we’re experts in sensitive skin. But did you know we offer free online skin consultations, too? That’s right – we have a whole team of skin coaches who are ready and waiting to help you with your skin, from advice on your regimen to what might be triggering those frustrating flare-ups.

In your consultation, our sensitive skin pros will ask plenty of questions about you, your skin and your skincare – and more importantly, they’ll listen. But before you book in, how about we turn the tables and put our coaches in the spotlight? We know talking about your skin to a stranger may seem daunting, and that’s why we’ve asked our four skincare consultants some quickfire questions, so you can get to know them before your one-to-one appointment.

Read on to find out about their own skin concerns, what they do in their spare time and the Pai products they can’t live without…

Kate

Kate

Our lead skin coach Kate is 32, originally from Nottinghamshire and is now based in Berkshire. You’ll find her hosting many of our live shows, leading Pai’s consultations team and sharing advice on our social media channels.

Describe your skin type?

I've always had dry skin – I remember my mum buying me my first little blue pot of Nivea because my skin was so dry! I also have psoriasis, inherited from my dad; it started when I was 15 and has been on and off ever since, though it tends to be worse in winter. I mainly get it on my scalp, but a couple of years ago I had guttate psoriasis on my body for a few months. Hence why our Polly Plum body cream is one of my favorite products!

What made you want to become a skin coach?

I trained as a make-up artist when I was 20, where I was taught that your make-up will only look as good as your skincare and that really stuck with me. After qualifying, I started to work for a mainstream skincare brand and later I moved into organic beauty. Skincare has been a passion of mine since I developed psoriasis and over the years it became more and more of a love affair.

Best piece of skincare advice you've ever been given?

Less is more!

What does your spare time look like?

I'm very into yoga – I do this most mornings to start my day. I've also just moved to a gorgeous area in the countryside and love going for walks with my partner (we just need a dog now to go with it!).

Tipple of choice?

Gin and tonic!

Which Pai product can you not live without?

This is hard! When I have a psoriasis flare-up I can't live without Polly Plum. But something that I use every day without fail (and my skin always knows when I'm not using it) is our Back To Life hydration serum. My skin loves it.

What should someone expect from a consultation with you?

I'm very empathetic, supportive and a great listener. Most importantly though – and this goes for our consultations in general – is that it's like having a chat with a friend, only that I will share my knowledge to guide you and put you back in the driver's seat of your skin again. We will also have some fun along the way!

Holly

Holly

Sensitive skin coach Holly is 49, and lives in a sleepy seaside town in Kent. She’s worked at Pai for a whopping 13 years (and counting).

Describe your skin type?

My skin is oily/combination and is very reactive and sensitive. I had acne as a teen and in my late thirties, as well as chronic urticaria and idiopathic angioedema. Those are under control now, but I am still prone to hives and allergic reactions, so I know what it’s like to not be able to use certain products or ingredients. I also have rosacea!

Instagram vs reality: what would people find surprising about you?

How old I am – Pai has definitely saved my skin! I also have two teenage sons, one has just gone to uni.

What does your spare time look like?

Walking the dog along the beach – it’s two minutes’ walk away.

Tipple of choice?

Champagne!

Which Pai product can you not live without?

Instant Kalmer serum. It bothers me if I don’t have this on my skin at night!

What should someone expect from a consultation with you?

A chatty review of how to help their skin; it’s not a lecture. I’m not here to judge or criticise someone’s skincare regimen, product choices or lifestyle. I’m hoping people finish the consultation and feel inspired and excited about having Pai in their regimen.

Bhavini

Bhavini

Sensitive skin coach Bhavini is 32 and lives in London. Starting out as a skincare blogger, she’s turned her passion for improving her own skin into a career in helping others with theirs.

Describe your skin type?

I have dry, acne-prone skin, which becomes more combination in the summer. From the age of 13, I suffered with acne, trying many products from over the counter as well as endless trips to the doctors. You name it, I tried it – from Clearasil to Epiduo to Roaccutane. It’s improved now because I’ve found what works for me – but every skin is different and I still have bad skin days!

What’s the best thing about being a skin coach?

Being able to do something I am truly passionate about, helping others love the skin they are in and getting to meet different people across the world. It can be very rewarding when you receive lovely comments from customers telling you that you have helped save their skin!

What does your spare time look like?

I enjoy going to the gym as it helps me push myself mentally and physically. I also love travelling and spending time with my friends and family.

Tipple of choice?

I love a good Pornstar Martini… or two.

Which Pai product can you not live without?

It has to be Rosehip Bioregenerate – it is perfect for my dry, acne-prone skin, as it helps speed up the skin healing process as well as locking in moisture. I wake up with soft radiant skin.

What should someone expect from a consultation with you?

I will listen carefully and try to help them as much as possible, whether that’s with guidance on their skin type, building a new skincare regimen or offering a holistic approach. I like to form a good relationship with my customers and my email is always open for more questions after the consultation.

Caroline

Caroline

Sensitive skin coach Caroline is 32 and based in Luton. After her own experiences with acne, she’s now enjoying helping Pai’s customers with their skin.

Describe your skin type?

I have oily, congested skin. I had severe acne between the ages of 12 and 20. Roaccutane cleared it up, and then I started working in skincare – and I believe the only reason I’ve managed to keep it from coming back is that I’m very strict with my skincare and products!

Best piece of skincare advice you've ever been given?

Always take your make-up off and wash your face before bed, no matter what time it is.

What does your spare time look like?

I’m a full-time mum, so running around after a one-year-old!

Tipple of choice?

Disaronno or Hotel Chocolat liqueur.

Which Pai product can you not live without?

Any of the serums; I alternate them, as my skin is a little of everything.

What should someone expect from a consultation with you?

That it will run over because I want to make sure the customer is happy! I will try my hardest to make sure they leave feeling confident in the advice I give.

If you would like to book a free skin consultation with Caroline, you can book a 10 minute one here or a 30 minute one here.
